Description

Who likes being called a Senior Citizen? Not many. Even though the reality of age may demand the description, there is a more accurate way to speak of many older people who find themselves alone. Author Samantha Landy prefers the phrase Savvy Senior singles for those who are mature but still very much young at heart and living without a partner. Her practical insights give you the nudge needed to live a successfully fulfilling second-half of life. This optimistic but practical view of life addresses issues that affect your emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial health.

Summary: "Savvy Senior Singles"

It would have been good to know if there were writing on the pages. Was a little dissappointed about that but other wise the book was fine and in fairly good condition.

Summary: "What a disappointment!"

This book has little to do with being single. The author spends more than half the book telling the readers to choose to be happy, smile, make lemonade and other trite sayings. In short, I guess you're supposed to be "savvy" by being happy and alone! She has little practical advice for singles. Toward the end of the book, she does mention STDs and prenups, but most of the book is completely useless! I think it is a complete waste of time and money.

Summary: "Perky pick-me-up"

One is a whole number. And that is the theme of Savvy Senior Singles. Author Samantha Landy, founder of Christian Celebrity Luncheons, is a savvy senior single who shares her insights in this Destiny Image publication.

Whether you are single by calling, by divorce, or by the death of a spouse, there are advantages to being single and Landy lists them. We don't have to ask if it's okay to go shopping with (or without) friends, we don't have to ask for approval to buy something, we can choose a romance movie if we don't feel like an action flick. We're basically free to do whatever we want whenever we want.

Savvy Senior Singles reminds readers to laugh often, develop a positive attitude, and build a support network. "The Fear Factor" was my favorite chapter. "When we take failure personally, it can devastate us, but when we view it as an event, we can turn it from a negative to a positive change factor" (page 85). Landry is bold enough to talk about sex and the single senior as well as prenuptial agreements, identity theft, and pursing dreams.

Each chapter ends with Points to Ponder, a collection of pithy tidbits mined from the previous pages. She ends the book with an invitation. Send her your savvy single senior story for consideration in the sequel.

A light read, Savvy Senior Singles is a perky pick-me-up for anyone wanting to celebrate their age and embrace their potential. It is a pleasant gift idea for those old enough to take advantage of the senior citizen discount. - PeggySue Wells, Christian Book Previews.com

Summary: "Savvy Resource"

This book has some great insight for several people in my family. I like the way it is written and have given it to several people. I love the humor! The section on financial security and protection from identity theft is very helpful.
